HP refers to this family of servers as “density optimized for racking environments”.
This is their way of saying they have packed as much performance as possible into the smallest possible space. These DL Series servers are meant to be installed directly into a standard data center rack. Some of these models take as little as 1U of rack space – that means up to 42 individual DL servers in one rack.
But in these compact cabinets you have a lot of power. There are models that can contain up to eight Intel® Pentium®, Xeon®, Celeron® or AMD Opteron™ processors. In addition, these machines hold a generous amount of memory – up to 128GB.
As they were designed to be rack mounted and attached to some type of external storage, the provision for internal disk drives is minimal. The space saved by not housing drives is used for built in controllers, network adapters and redundant power supplies.
In addition to the servers, Atlantix can offer a full selection of parts, features and accessories for your DL systems:
- Memory
- Processors
- SCSI and RAID disk drives
- NICs
- Redundant power supplies
- Rack Mount Kits
