For the past several years, the Cisco 2500 series router has served as the most deployed and most popular branch office router in the world.  These routers are data-only.  There are two models to choose from, one with 8 and one with 16 async ports.  Both models have a single ethernet port to provide a single Telnet access point for either 8 or 16 external modems in areas where T1/E1 digital circuits are not available, but multiple dial-up lines can be leveraged for low cost remote access.
